Chris an Jan Clark - 1990

June 30
Jan Wrote - Chris started out with a wooly bugger and was having much better results then me. So I switched and caught about three fish. Fish were hitting the surface like crazy and I then switched to a real humpy and caught many fish. For the completed wildlife experience, there were numerous deer, sand crane with offspring, and a porcupine. Weather was hot, river clear and many dumb fish. I had a good day.

July 28
Jan Wrote - Chris and I arrived late last night after driving up from Denver after work. I went horseback riding this morning at the Focus Ranch - it was a lovely ride with good company and horses. There were 2 men with their sons, a man named Bill from Jersey, England, and a lady from Orlando named Laura. A great time was had by all. Chris, naturally, went fishing very early this morning. He caught 12 rainbow trouts, most fairly small, with 1 being 16". He had some success with wooly bugger, but best luck with prince nymph. At 11 AM he caught one on a humpy and another on a trico spinner.

September 1
Jan Wrote - We're back. Saturday was rainy in the morning, but gorgeous in the afternoon. I went horseback riding at the Focus Ranch in the am - in the rain - but it was a gentle rain, so the ride was very nice. The Valley looks entirely different in clouds and rain. I saw red foxes, lots of deer, and quite a few prairie chickens and grouse. Chris went fishing - details to follow.

Chris Wrote - I fished hard most of the day and the good news is I caught lots of fish. The bad news is most were under 12". I did land one rainbow trout about 15" to 16" and 2 or 3 others over 12". Also, I served a large white fish that I caught. The water was low and clear. However, it was cool enough that the fish were active.

September 2
Chris Wrote - Went to look at the dinosaurs at the Dinosaur National Monument. They appear to all be dead. Plus, the river they hung out at is dried up. Therefore, the fishing was lousy.

September 3
Chris Wrote - I fished in the morning with Jan. She landed one and hooked several others. I landed 6 or so rainbow trouts and 1 whitefish. River was off color/murky from yesterday's storm. Once again I had the best success with my standard nymphs. We left for Littleton about 2:00 PM.
