Homesteaded back in 1881 by Grandfather Salisbury, Saddle Pocket has been witness to the changes of the West in the past century. The likes of mountaineers Jim Bridger and Jeremiah Johnson trapped and hunted this land. Indians and outlaws roamed the mountains and valleys. Indeed Saddle Pocket Ranch is the scene of the early 1800's battle between trappers and Indians, the famous fight that gave Squaw and Battle Mountains their names. From frontier battleground to a working Western ranch, yet its beauty remains forever young.
